Code Gridlock continues through long weekend
Sunday 21 May - West Parry Sound Health Centre is at 120 percent occupancy, caring for 13 patients above normal capacity.
PLEASE PLAN THOUGHTFULLY AND PREPARE TO AVOID AN UNNECESSARY TRIP TO THE WPSHC ER. TREAD SOFTLY AND AVOID RISK.
The health centre enacted its Code Gridlock Policy on Thursday, May 18th at approximately 10 a.m. The code was called due to patient volumes beyond the health centre’s normal capacity to provide care. For many days during the past week the health centre was operating above 110 percent of capacity and is currently operating at 120 percent of capacity.
One significant impact is that our Emergency Department is caring for admitted patients and this increases wait times for less urgent care.
WPSHC is carefully monitoring the situation and working towards improving capacity. During the Victoria Day long weekend we encourage everyone to prioritize safety. As always call 911 or safely travel to the health centre’s Emergency Department whenever urgent or emergency care is needed.
Please be patient with our team and anticipate longer than usual wait times should you seek care at our Emergency Department.
WPSHC continues to remind everyone that COVID-19 is still impacting health care services and many precautions remain in place at WPSHC. Please continue to take all appropriate precautions, get fully vaccinated, and ‘tread lightly’ on all public services.
